The symptom

The Fire TV Stick reboots randomly — mid-show, on the home screen, or in a loop it never escapes.

The likely causes

Work from the top — the list runs from most common to least common.

  1. Powering from a TV USB port that can't deliver enough current
  2. Overheating behind a wall-mounted TV
  3. Corrupted app data crashing the system
  4. Nearly full storage
  5. A failing power adapter or cable

The fixes, in order

  1. Switch to the wall adapter

    If the stick is powered by the TV's USB port, move it to the included wall adapter. Under-powered sticks restart under load — this single change fixes the majority of cases.

  2. Improve ventilation

    Use the HDMI extender to move the stick out of a recessed port into open air, especially on wall-mounted TVs where heat pools behind the panel.

  3. Clear storage and problem apps

    Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications. Clear cache on your most-used apps, uninstall ones you don't need, and check Settings > My Fire TV > About > Storage — keep at least 500 MB free.

  4. Check for a system update

    Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates. Restart bugs get patched; a stick that can't stay up long enough may need the next step first.

  5. Try a different power adapter and cable

    Borrow a phone charger rated at 1A or higher (5W+) and a different micro-USB/USB-C cable. Failing adapters cause exactly this symptom and are cheaper to replace than the stick.

  6. Factory reset as the last software step

    Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults. You'll sign into everything again, but corrupted system states don't survive it.

When to contact the manufacturer

If the stick restarts in a loop even during setup after a factory reset — on a known-good wall adapter, in open air — the hardware has likely failed. Contact Amazon's Fire TV support; sticks carry a one-year warranty.
